11 Aug Conclusion
I am so sorry I did not finish off my trip! The hotel did not have wifi so my iPad was not working. So I’m just going to finish the rest of my trip here, a little bit late!
Friday was performance day. We rehearsed a ton, which I didn’t mind. A big part of being a dancer is rehearsing, so one must learn to love it. The performance came and went quicker than I expected. It was only 15-20 minutes long. I was so excited to see my parents afterwards. We went out to dinner and cupcakes and had a good time.
The next day, we had our open class. The parents watched that class. I was expecting a relatively easy class because we wanted to show ourselves off to the parents. That is not what happened. We were given such a hard class, it was pretty embarrassing. It would have been worse if I was the only one who was messing up, but everyone was confused by the combinations. We got our souvenirs during lunch and finished the intensive with ou second and final class of the day. In the second class, so may girls were crying because they didn’t want the class to end. When we did our last combination, Ms. Farrell made us stay in 5th position while she told us something. She asked us if we knew what a Mayflower was. We thought it was a flower or boat, but she said it was also an amoeba. It grew and grew until it could turn into a Mayfly where it flew for one second and then died. She told us that it did not die before it flew just becasue it knew it would die anyway, it grew so it could get it’s moment of glory before it died. She told us to dance like a Mayfly, to dance so we will capture our moment and get our chance to shine, until our career dies. Everyone was crying at that point. I am so so sad to leave. That was some of the best training I’ve ever gotten. I am going to try again for next year. I definitely want to come back, and for those who are truly serious and devoted to ballet, I highly recommend they try for EBSF.
